What is a certificate? |

There are official certification agencies that control the identity of web sites. Of course, TRUSTED SHOPS GmbH, as well as many online shops are registered with these agencies.
A certificate is a public key, signed and verified by a certification agency. Such certificates may be compared with an electronic passport: they verify the identity of the web site shown in the key.
